Did they not solve your problem, or make it worse?  Remember, a small stone in your shoe can cause pain out of proportion to its size!  Sometimes your orthotic just requires a small adjustment. Perhaps it is not sitting in or fitting your shoe properly.  What is important is that you get to someone properly trained to recognize what you need, and who uses orthotics as part of a treatment plan, not someone doing orthotics as a sideline or a retail business.

Though providing orthotics is not regulated, only members of the College of Chiropodists of Ontario have the provision of orthotics actually written in law as part of their scope of practice.  This is because their unique training prepares them to diagnose your condition and provide the orthotics used to treat it.  Whoever provides your orthotics should as part of their normal treatment protocol provide follow up care to ensure that your problem(s) are being addressed and that you are comfortable.

Then, they need to have the knowledge that if necessary, allows them to make additional adjustments to meet your needs.
