FAQs
🦶 Heel Pain & Plantar Fasciitis
Why does my heel hurt so much when I get out of bed or after walking for a while?
You may have a condition called plantar fasciitis—an inflammation of the tissue that supports your arch. It’s especially painful in the morning or after rest. The good news? It’s very treatable with the right care plan.
I’ve tried stretches and ice, but my heel still hurts—what else can I do?
If home remedies haven’t worked, we offer evidence-based treatments like MLS laser therapy, shockwave therapy, guidance re appropriate footwear, the correct stretches for you and custom orthotics to reduce inflammation and speed healing.
What treatments do you offer if rest and orthotics haven’t helped my heel pain?
Our Heel Pain Recovery Program combines targeted therapies—like MLS Laser, Shockwave, and hands-on care—to eliminate pain and restore mobility, fast.
I heard about shockwave therapy—can it really help with plantar fasciitis?
Yes! Shockwave stimulates blood flow and tissue repair. Most patients experience significant pain relief after 3–6 sessions.
🦠 Warts (Plantar Warts)
I’ve had a wart on my foot for months—why won’t it go away?
Plantar warts are caused by a virus and can be stubborn. They often resist drugstore treatments. We offer Swift Microwave Therapy—a fast, clean, and effective solution.
What’s the difference between drugstore wart treatments and what you offer at your clinic?
Over-the-counter options often treat just the surface of the wart. Swift targets the virus at the root using microwave energy, stimulating your immune system to fight it off.
How does Swift therapy work, and how long will it take to see results?
Swift delivers low-dose microwaves to the wart, usually over 2-4 short sessions. Most patients see improvement within a few weeks and full resolution in a few months. In severe cases we find that combination therapies can be very effective.
👣 Ingrown Toenails
How can I stop ingrown toenails from coming back?
Proper trimming, well-fitting shoes, and addressing any biomechanical issues with orthotics can prevent recurrence. We can provide you with the proper guidance and education that can successfully prevent new ingrown toenails.
My toenail is red and swollen—can you fix an ingrown nail without surgery?
Yes! In many cases, we can quickly relieve pain and remove the offending nail edge gently and without surgery.
When do ingrown toenails need surgery, and what’s the recovery like?
If the problem keeps coming back or is chronically infected, a simple in-office procedure may be needed. Healing is quick, and you’ll be back in regular shoes within a day or two.
👟 Orthotics & Footwear
I have flat feet (or high arches)—will custom orthotics help with my pain?
Yes. Custom orthotics are designed to support your foot’s natural shape, improve alignment, optimize foot function, and can often improve or relieve pain in your feet, knees, hips, or back.
Do you help patients find the right shoes for their foot issues?
Absolutely. We guide you toward the right footwear—and we prescribe custom fittings and shoe modifications when needed.
How do you know if someone needs orthotics?
We do a full biomechanical assessment. If your pain stems from poor foot mechanics, orthotics can be a game-changer.
💅 Fungal Nails & Laser Therapy
What can I do to keep toenail fungus from coming back?
We’ll guide you on proper hygiene, footwear choices, and preventative products like antifungal sprays and disinfectants.
I’ve used creams for toenail fungus, but they don’t work—are there other treatments that can help?
Yes! Creams often don’t penetrate the nail. In combination with effective topical solutions, we use ToeFX and the Swift Microwave Generator, which target the fungus directly—safely and effectively.
How many sessions do I need for fungal nails? Is it safe?
Typically, you’ll need 8–12 treatments, with the ToeFX spaced every 2 weeks and 3 treatments spaced every 2 weeks with the Swift. Each method requires ongoing topical treatments in the following months to prevent recurrence. Treatments are safe, painless, and have no downtime.
⚙️ Advanced Treatments & Technology
Are your high-tech treatments covered by insurance?
Some extended health plans cover these services. We’ll help you understand your benefits and provide receipts for claims.
What’s better for foot pain—shockwave or laser therapy?
Both are effective, but we choose based on your condition. Laser therapy reduces inflammation, while shockwave helps regenerate tissue.
How do ToeFX and the Swift Microwave Generator treat fungal nails and are they better than traditional methods?
ToeFX uses safe light-based technology to weaken fungal colonies and promote nail healing. It’s known as photodisinfection. It’s drug-free and more targeted than oral or topical treatments. The Swift Microwave Generator uses heat to cause the fungus cell walls to collapse.
🩺 General Foot Health & Prevention
Do you offer checkups for athletes or people with recurring injuries?
Yes! Whether you’re a weekend runner or a seasoned athlete, we provide preventative care and injury recovery programs tailored to your goals.
How often should I see a chiropodist if I have diabetes or poor circulation?
Every 6–12 months, or more often if you have calluses, ulcers, or changes in skin/nail health. Preventative care and education can help avoid serious complications. Knowledge is power! We use a research validated evaluation tool to identify risk in people with diabetes.
What signs mean I should see a foot specialist?
Watch for pain, swelling, numbness, skin colour changes, or slow-healing wounds—these may signal deeper problems. Pain in someone living with diabetes and neuropathy is a sign to see someone as soon as possible. Watch for pain, swelling, numbness, skin colour changes, or slow-healing.
